Galdor

Job type Test knit
Description

Galdor is an open cardigan with drop shoulders and mid-length sleeves, with stranded colourwork bands round the front edge and sleeve cuffs.

The body is worked bottom-up in the round, with v-neck shaping, and steeks for the front and armholes. Stitches are picked up for the front band, worked in the round in stranded colourwork, with a contrast stockinette facing. The bottom of the front bank is steeked, and the facing is stitched to the inside to hide the steeked edges. Stitches are picked up for the sleeves, worked in the round in stockinette, then the cuffs are worked in stranded colourwork and a contrast stockinette facing as for the front band.

The sample shown uses three colours: a mid grey for the main colour, cream for contrast colour 1, and a slightly darker grey for contrast colour 2. If preferred, the design can be worked with just two colours, using the main colour yarn wherever contrast colour 2 is specified.

Requirements from the maker
  • Swatch and ensure you knit the pattern precisely at the correct gauge.
  • Create a Ravelry project and link it to the pattern using the tester code given and add at least one modelled photo by the deadline.
  • Confirm via message on Yarnpond if you are accepted to the test that you intend to participate.
  • Testers are welcome to modify the body length and sleeve length at the points specified in the pattern – please note this will affect the amount of yarn needed.
  • Fill in the feedback form on Yarnpond once you have finished knitting.
  • For the deadline, I am happy for testers (especially for larger sizes) to finish the body and just one sleeve to check the fit if this makes a difference to you managing the deadline. Please do keep track of the amount of yarn used for the first sleeve so you can accurately estimate total yarn usage should you do this.
Rewards from the designer

The designer is offering discounted or free pattern(s) to testers

Testers who complete on time will receive a finished PDF of the pattern as well as a coupon code for a free pattern from my Ravelry store.

If testers wish to order Woolly Mammoth Fibre Company yarn for their test knit, they will receive a free skein of white yarn with their order, which can be used for either of the contrast colours.
