I started knitting when I got a knitting/crochet/French knitting set for my 7th birthday, and I did knit a few scarves and jumpers for my Sindy dolls but I never got the hang of purling so didn’t get any further than that. Then, when I was pregnant with my son in 2005, I felt so sick and tired I had to rest, but wanted to do something useful, so I got my mum to re-teach me how to knit, and I was hooked. As well as knitting, I’m very busy also being a mum and housewife as well as singing, dancing, acting, baking and even occasionally sewing!
In 2017 I ran out of people to knit for so I opened my Etsy store, WombleKnits, to sell eco-friendly knits such as reusable string bags, soap saver sacks, washcloths, gift bags, and wool nappy covers for babies. And swiftly realised that I was actually developing my own patterns for these, because no one pattern ever seemed to do exactly what I wanted it to.
And so since the early 2020s I’ve actually been selling more patterns than finished objects. Follow me on social media for new patterns and knit kits, or sign up for my newsletter to get 20% off as well as invitations to test knits and special discounts on new patterns!
