Winter Lace Sweater

Job type Test knit
Description

Working in an office with a dress code sometimes makes it difficult to sport handmade knits. Colourful socks only work when hidden in boots and sweaters must be the absolute opposite of a Weasley jumper. Starting a new job had me rethinking my wardrobe and recently I’ve been inspired to design elegant sweaters that work both with pants and high-waist skirts. Winter Lace achieves just that.

It will work best with light solid or semi-solid colours, which beautifully highlight the lace details around the yoke and arms. The tight gauge helps this sweater remain warm despite the lace details and gives it structure, which can sometimes be lacking in yoke sweaters.

Despite being named after winter, the initial sample was designed and knitted under extreme summer heat in Japan. I like to think that the heat, which made me dream of air conditioning, and the overall aesthetics of Japan helped give the design an airy feel and minimalist look.
