About the pattern:

The THAR tank top, which is named after the Great Indian Desert in the state of Rajasthan, is totally customisable. It has a lace section on the bottom which can either be worked with a straight or an arched edge. Also you can choose from two different necklines: a round neckline and a v-neck. By combining these four options in different ways for the front and the back, there are 10 possible resulting tops. In addition this top is reversible, so if you choose to work the front and the back in different ways, you get two looks in one top. When I worked the sample I combined the arched lace edge with the v-neck on one side and the straight lace edge with the round neckline on the other. When I was done I found myself unable to decide which side would be the front, because I like to wear each side in front equally much.

THAR is worked seamlessly from the bottom up and the shoulders are closed with a Three Needle Bind-Off. It is made from a cotton, viscose and linen blend yarn that is perfect for summer and has a lovely drape to it. This material is a little heavier than it would be if a woolen yarn of the same yarn weight was used instead. This weight causes the fabric to drape in a way that creates the illusion of waistshaping even though the top is knitted straight from the bottom up.

I love to wear this versatile and breezy summer top tucked into high-waisted and wide palazzo pants or over jeans shorts. I hope you will like it just as much as I do! Happy knitting!

Requirements from the maker

Please only apply if you agree to these terms:

  1. You can meet the given deadline.
  2. It is okay to use other yarn than the one used in the pattern, as long as get exact gauge. Please tell me in your application, if you want to use a different yarn, because the fiber type can have a big impact on the design. For this design a highly recommend using a yarn that is mostly cotton or linen with a bit of viscose.
  3. Do not make changes to the pattern without contacting me first.
  4. Please create a Ravelry project page for your test knit and link it to the pattern using the given Ravelry pre-release code. To do that, the code must be entered in the projects "pattern name" field.
  5. Add at least two photos of your finished object to your project page. The photos should be taken outside during daylight and show the worn finished object. Pictures of the item on a hanger or such and photos taken inside do not meet the requirements, but can of course be added as additonal photos. That also applies for progress pictures, which I always like to see in Ravelry projects.
  6. I would very much appreciate if you gave me feedback on my pattern. Was there anything that you found hard to understand? Did you find any errors or spelling mistakes? Was there any information missing that you would have found helpful?
