Celtic Hood

Job type Test knit
Description

The Celtic Hood was to fill a gap in my own knitting library I found I only had few hood patterns, and none for adults. And when an internet search failed to turn up what I wanted, I decided to design it myself!

This hood starts with the cable panel, which is knit flat. The neck is knit in the round, then the cable section is joined to the neck with a three-needle bind off. The body of the hood is knit back and forth, picking up stitches from the edge of the cable pattern. Finally, stitches are picked up from the other side of the cable pattern to make the edge of the hood. So while it is an exercise in more unusual construction, there's absolutely nothing scary about it, I promise!

Yarn is Cascade 200 Superwash Wool, and any worsted-weight wool or wool blend should substitute quite well, if desired. Worsted/Aran weight acrylic yarn would also substitute nicely, if desired.

Please note, I'm also looking for testers to test a large-print and screen-reader accessible version of this pattern!  If you're interested in doing so, let me know and I can get that version to you.

Requirements from the maker
  • You will use your own yarn, but get to keep the finished object. As well, you will get a final copy of the finished pattern for your own use.
  • You will not share or distribute the pattern PDF.
  • You will be able to complete the test by the deadline posted.
  • If circumstances come up and you cannot complete the test by the deadline posted, you will notify me as soon as possible.
  • You will post any errors or other issues you encounter with the pattern to the testing thread.
  • If you are altering the pattern to your own preferences, please post to the chat thread, or message me here on YarnPond to confirm. I don’t usually mind alterations, but I do have to make sure that the elements of the pattern I need tested are being tested.
  • I would like to have feedback posted the chat once every two weeks, minimum, please. That feedback does not have to be elaborate, it can even be ‘I haven’t touched this since last time’.
  • Finished Projects should include a photograph. While I would prefer modeled photos (if applicable), this is not an absolute requirement. I may ask for your project photograph to be featured on social media, if I like it, but that is not a requirement of my testers.
  • Testers should fill out the feedback questions when they have completed their project.
  • You may create a project page on Ravelry at any time you wish (also not a requirement).
