Millenium

Job type Test knit
Description

This standout garment is the first release of the Millennium Collection, a group of sleeveless tops inspired by the music and fashion at the turn of the millennium. Shiny material was very popular for party outfits or those with a futuristic bent. When I got my hands on Universe, the 10th anniversary celebration yarn from Universal Yarns, I knew I wanted to make something unusual, something that wowed, something that would make people pause and say, “Whoa, you made that?” I paired it with my favorite wool-free sock yarn, CoBaSi from HiKoo, a very breathable fingering weight yarn. You’ll look amazing in this top but stay cool while on the dance floor... or while hauling your kids around town to karate and swimming lessons like I do.

The bust portion is knit top town with short rows for bust shaping.  The lower portion is knit side-to-side in garter stitch like an applied edging using short rows to widen the bottom of the points.

This top is designed to be worn with 5-6 inches of negative ease. The fabric created by the two yarns held together creates a very stretchy material – if you choose to substitute yarn(s) and the resulting fabric isn’t stretchy, you may wish to adjust the sizing accordingly. Model has a 39” bust and is wearing size 34”.

Being a strapess top, and having negative ease and a decently large gauge, this pattern knits up FAST.
