Purlside

Job type Test knit
Description

Purlside is a crescent shawl with swooping stripes of textured stitches and eyelets. All the magic happens on the purlside of this shawl; the decorative accents are all worked on the wrong side of the project. It’s generous in size and easier to make than it looks! I used a Superwash Merino/Nylon blend yarn for my sample, and it makes this shawl so unbelievably cozy and luxurious. The shawl is designed to show off 50g skeins of sock yarn, like my friend Charity’s (@brinedyeworks) 50g 75/25 Merino Sock skeins. Written for three or six colors, this pattern is also great for mini skeins or leftovers - use up to 36 different yarns!

This crescent-shaped shawl is worked from the top down, starting with an elongated i-cord tab cast on, that works seamlessly into i-cord edging worked throughout the pattern to your I-cord bind-off.
For results that look the most similar to the sample, use the suggested yarn or a merino-based fingering weight yarn and swatch following the instructions for Section 1 to ensure look and drape is as desired and gauge is close.

You can substitute leftovers or minis for each section except Section 6, which uses approx 25g of Color C (or G). Use 18 minis by changing colors every two contrast rows. Make every contrast row a different color and use 36 colors!
