BRB Shawl

Job type Test knit
Description

BRB, or Broken Rib Boomerang, is an asymmetrical, boomerang-shaped DK weight shawl that is super customizable in size! The all-over broken rib texture is easy to memorize and fun to knit, and i- cord edges keep this shawl nice and tidy. This pattern really shows off speckled, tonal, or light variegated hand-dyed yarn beautifully. I used one skein of Miss Babs Hand Dyed Yarns Yowza for my sample, a huge 225g skein that I picked up at Stitches West. I love how the texture and colors play together! This shawl is perfect for adventurous beginner knitters and will fly off your needles!

This asymmetrical boomerang shawl is worked from one corner out to the bind-off edge. with increases on every RS row and decreases on every WS row

As written, this pattern uses most of one Yowza skein, a 225g DK skein by Miss Babs Hand Dyed Yarns. If you’d like to make a slightly smaller shawl and keep it to two average DK skeins total, instructions are included on how to adapt the pattern to the yarn you want to use!

This shawl was made in collaboration with Miss Babs Hand Dyed Yarns. I highly recommend Miss Babs’ Yowza DK for this project, however if substituting, look for 100% Superwash Merino DK yarn for maximum drape, warmth, and breathability. Solid, tonal, and/or speckled skeins will highlight the pattern most, lighter-colored variegated colorways will also work beautifully!
