Job type | Test knit |
Description | XS, S, M (L, XL, 2XL) [3XL, 4XL, 5XL] The top is knitted flat (back and front) bottoms-up. After the shoulder and side seams are completed, the sleeves are knitted in rounds. An i-cord bind-off method is used to finish the v-neck and the sleeves. The top has a small ease (3 - 5cm). The bust darts are recommended and are customizable based on your measurements and will ensure a flattering fit. There is a link to a video about darts as a concept. You will need to use your measurements to customize your darts. Yarn: • MC – Firefly 75% viscose, 25% linen, 50g (1.76oz), 142m/155yds, color 7706; 150 / 150 / 150 (180 / 200 / 200) [250 / 300 / 300] g. • CC - Bella Lino Linen (58%), Viscose (26%), Cotton (16%), 50g (1.76 oz) / 150 m (164 yds), color 8501. 65 / 75 / 80 (100 / 120 / 150) [150 / 150/ 200] g. Yarn alternatives: • Cool Linen Tencel, Lyocell (67%), Linen (33%) 50g (1.76 oz) /140m (153 yds); • DROPS Belle Cotton (53%), Viscose (33%), Linen (14%), 50g (1.75 oz) / 120m (131 yds); • Antigone Linen (100%), 100g (3.53oz), 260m (284 yds); Olivin Cotton (50%), Linen (50%), 50g (1,76oz), 125m (137 yds). • Juniper Moon Farm ZOOEY Cotton (60%), Linen (40%), 100g (3.520z), 260m (284 yds) Gauge: in stockinette stitch 20sts / 27 rows = 10 / 10 cm in US 4 / 3.5MM Linen-based yarns may lean to one side when knitted in stockinette in rounds. This is one of the reasons for knitting the front and back flat. Circular knitting is done on the sleeves only, which are quite short, therefore leaning should not present and issue for the sleeves. When working with 100% linen or a high % of linen yarn the stitches may look uneven at first. This issue gets resolved completely after washing and drying. Linen will also soften after washing. Linen doesn’t stretch due to washing, it rather straightens or flattens. You can make this top shorter if desired by simply knitting less rows before underarms. Cotton helps soften the linen; viscose helps add a shine. It is possible to use sport/DK weight merino wool or cotton/wool combinations if desired. Silk can be another option, though silk will stretch lengthwise, which doesn’t happen with linen (keep that in mind). |
