Job type | Test knit |
Description | Simple, yet structured for easy wear and a touch of drama. This seamless sweater features gathered sleeve details, drop saddle shoulders, balloon sleeves, tied waistband and a relaxed fit. Knit with 4-ply yarn, the Gather Sleeve Sweater is worked from the top down with the back, shoulders and front all worked as one piece before separating for the body and rejoining at the underarms. The remainder of the body is worked in the round, then the sleeves and neckband are individually picked up and worked in the round too. As a fit guide: I'm a 91 cm bust and made size C as per the photos. |

Skills required | This contiguous construction requires increases (m1r and m1l) on the right AND wrong sides. That's probably the most fiddly part! You'll also have to create an icord, which isn't tricky but might be a new experience for some knitters. Otherwise, it's all quite straightfoward. |
Construction type | Top down seamless design using an adapted contiguous construction method. |
Required or recommended yarn | 4 ply yarn. I used Wild Earth Yarns Ashley 4 ply and it's amazing! Totally recommend it, but not essential. |
Yardage | 1600 (1750, 1800, 2060() (2150, 2285, 2400) metres / 1745 (1900, 2055, 2250) (2340, 2500, 2630) yards |
Tools required | 2.75 (US2) and 3.25 (US3) circular needles with an 80 cm / 32" cord. Plus 4 stitch markers, one additional marker that looks different from the 4 you've chosen, yarn needle, cute scissors, scrap yarn, tape measure, bodkin or safety pin and an optional icord maker or similar but that isn't essential. I didn't use one. |
Ownership of the finished item | The finished item is yours to keep. |
Requirements from the maker |
Please finish your test by the deadline (it's okay if only one of the two sleeves is done) and provide honest feedback on errors found. Also, please provide photos of someone wearing the final sweater before the deadline. The quality doesn't have to be incredible because it's really just for me to see how the garment is sitting, but good photos might be added on the Ravelry listing (if you consent, of course). |
Rewards from the designer |
The designer is offering discounted or free pattern(s) to testers
For those who complete the test on time, I'll send through a final copy of the pattern plus one other free pattern from my range (or a discount code to be used on a future release). |
