Cut and Out Jacket

Job type Test knit
Description

CONSTRUCTION

This double-sided jacket is based on a winning design issued in Vogue Knitting Magazine called 'Floral Wave Jacket'.

I decided to publish it as an independent pattern, with a few improvements: The sleeves start with a straight line, not in the middle of an opening; they are now flexible lengthwise, and the body has button options.

There are also two charts to choose from, a floral one (as the original show) and a psychedelic one for a more modern look.

The jacket is worked bottom-up in one piece up to the underarms, then fronts and back are worked separately to shoulders. The left front edge is straight; the right front edge is shaped to follow the shape of the pattern.

The sleeves are worked flat in one piece, bottom-up to the cap. Then, the edges are seamed together to create the diamond-shaped cutouts. The cap is worked flat to the top; the center of the cap is positioned above the sleeve seam.

Skills required

You need to be a confident knitter, but you don't have to know double knitting.

The test includes an access to a fully recorded workshop that teaches you double knitting, in which I read the whole pattern with you.

The workshop is recorded as you progress (I knit the sample with you), and new lessons are uploaded once or twice a week.

You can work according to the pattern, which is tech-edited and ready for you, or progress with the workshop step by step.

Required or recommended yarn light yarn - preferably woolen spun or blown , because the jacket needs to be dense, hold the shape, but not heavy or drapy.
Yardage for each color: 750 (850, 970, 1080, 1180) (1300, 1400, 1510, 1610) yds / 690 (780, 890, 990, 1080) (1190, 1280, 1380, 1470) m.

Ownership of the finished item The finished item is yours to keep.
Requirements from the maker

As a tester, I would need you to follow the pattern, or the workshop and work the jacket.

At the end of the test, you'll need to create a Ravelry project page with good photos of you or someone wearing the jacket - so people can see it on a human body.

You will also need to answer the feedback questions.

Rewards from the designer

The designer is offering discounted or free pattern(s) to testers

At the end of the test, the workshop will remain yours forever, so you can always go back to be remided of the technique, or even make another version - perhaps you'll want both of the patterns :)

In addition, I'll be happy to gift you a pattern for your choice on Rvelry.
