Description | As a child, one of my favorite books was The Secret Garden by Frances Hodgson Burnett. I dreamt of finding a garden like the one Mary Lennox does--a hidden paradise to escape to hidden behind lock and key, full of exotic blooms of every color and the air heavily perfumed. These socks, with their delicate scalloped cuff and all-over lace pattern, are perfect for traipsing through gardens, literal or metaphorical, and the floral motif will give any of the blossoms tended to by Mistress Mary Lenox a run for their money. I’ve knit mine as short ankle socks for the summer months, but you can easily knit them longer to carry these ssummery blossoms with you all year round. The Secret Garden Socks are knit from the cuff down with multiple options available for the toe and heel constructions to ensure a custom, perfect fit. **Sizes** Small: 15cm/6in Medium: 18cm/7in Large: 20.5cm/8in **Gauge** 36 stitches x 40 rows per 10cm/4in on 2.25mm needles in stockinette, or size required to meet gauge. **Yarn** Fingering weight – 60-900g. The sample is knit in Onion’s Nettle Sock Yarn in the color 1021 for the main sock and 1001 for the toe. **Needles** The pattern is written using small circulars and the magic loop method, but can be worked using double pointed needles, depending on your preference. You’ll need 2.25mm needles, or size required to meet gauge. **Notions** Tapestry needle Stitch markers (2-4 recommended) Scissors Sock blockers (optional) The pattern is sent out via link to a Canva document, so testers can leave notes and ask questions directly in the document. If you have trouble with the Canva document and would like a PDF emailed to you directly, I'm happy to accommodate! Please just ask nicely! |
