Seia Cardigan

Job type Test knit
Description

Like a warm hug...

Is there any other reason we knit, than to share our love? Maybe we knit for loved family members; maybe we knit for those in need; maybe we knit for ourselves. But behind all of those stitches, I believe the main driving force is love. This cardigan is like being wrapped up in a snuggly warm hug from someone who loves you. Smooth stockinette, cozy garter stitch and squishy brioche combine with simple raglan shaping to make this one of your favourite new comfort knits. Knit to the length you desire and the neckband depth that you prefer, this piece will quickly become a wardrobe staple.

Skills required

The only skills you NEED are being able to knit and purl. This cardigan involves increases, decreases, slipping stitches, picking up stitches and knitting small circumferences (sleeves) i.e. using either magic loop or DPNs, but if these skills are all new to you, that's perfectly fine. There is some brioche (the neckband) but again if you've never tried it before, that's ok too. I want feedback on ALL areas of the pattern, including how easy it is to learn new skills!

Construction type Raglan, top down seamless
Required or recommended yarn Any 4ply/fingering weight yarn. I used KnitPicks Hawthorne but you don't have to use that exact yarn.
Yardage Approx 906(943, 978, 1025, 1064, 1098)[1134, 1177, 1220, 1262, 1316]{1347, 1390, 1413, 1468, 1512}m - this is an estimation/calculation. Please err on the side of too much yarn.
Tools required

Needles: 3.5mm (or size required to meet gauge) circular needles (circular needles are recommended due to the number of stitches on the needle; cardigan is worked flat); DPNs or longer circular needles suitable for magic loop in the same size as main needles

Notions: 4 stitch markers; scrap yarn or 2 x stitch holders; darning needle

Ownership of the finished item The finished item is yours to keep.
Requirements from the maker

You will need to knit at least the yoke and provide feedback about whether it fits your body or the body of the intended recipient. Comments about total yardage are also highly desired. I would love a project on Ravelry linked to the test which includes modelled photos; I will request to feature your photo if it is suitable for the main pattern page!

Rewards from the designer

The designer is offering discounted or free pattern(s) to testers

Upon provision of feedback regarding the yoke and a project being linked on Ravelry, you will receive a voucher for a free pattern from my previously published patterns. You will also receive a copy of the final pattern tested here after all feedback is implemented.

Milestones

The designer has created the following milestones, in order to keep track of progress during the test knit. By marking off each milestone as you complete it, you can easily keep the designer up to date with your progress.
