Christmas Stockings

Add some homemade charm to your fireplace mantel this holiday season with a beautiful colorwork Christmas stocking!

Yarn: 

Ewe So Sporty Merino Yarn: (Or your own sport weight preference)

Main color: Vanilla, 2 skeins, 247m/270yds

Contrast color 1: Poppy Red, 1 skein, 128m/140yds

Contrast color 2: Forest Fern, 1 skein, 120m/131yds

Needles:

One pair of 3.24mm (US 3) circular needles, 40cm (16in) long, or needle size needed to obtain the gauge.

For use in the areas of the gusset and toe, use either a set of DPNs or a long circular needle for the magic loop method, as preferred.

One Size:

Top to Heel 48cm

Top to Toe 61cm

40.5cm diameter 

Very similar to making a sock, skills needed: Kitchener stitch gusset turning, short row stitches, standard decrease stitches (ssk, k2tog).

Other skills: basic color work, 2-color German cast on, either the ability to double stitch, or intarsia for the name, and knitting a Latvian braid.  

Needles:

One pair of 3.24mm (US 3) circular needles, 40cm (16in) long, or needle size needed to obtain the gauge.

Other:

3 stitch markers

Scrap yarn or another set of needles to hold stitches

Check in every 2 weeks or so for an update on progress. Project to be finished by December 2nd.
