Alpine Hat

Job type Test crochet
Description

This hat was one of my early forays into crochet design, worked up in the wonderfully sqishy and dense Alpine Stitch! The hat comes down over the back of the neck and over the ears, with a dense stitch pattern to keep the wind away and the sizing runs a touch large, to go over headphones, ponytails, and hair buns! The hat starts at the crown with a crochet magic loop, then increases out to the full head circumference. The Alpine Stitch tends to curl, so a
few rows of single and double crochet round out the bottom rim.

Yarn used for both samples is a Merino Wool. Size Large is shown using a DK weight wool; while size Small  (not shown yet) was crocheted using Fingering-weight yarn held double. Any DK weight or Light Worsted Wool should work up well as a substitute!

Pattern is written in US Crochet Terminology.

This pattern has no charts, it has written instruction only.

If you are a tester who uses screen-reading software and would like to test the accessible PDF, message me and I will get that to you!

  • You will not share or distribute the pattern PDF.
  • You will be able to complete the test by the deadline posted.
  • If circumstances come up and you cannot complete the test by the deadline posted, you will notify me as soon as possible.
  • You will post any errors or other issues you encounter with the pattern to the testing thread.
  • If you are altering the pattern to your own preferences, please post to the chat thread, or message me here on YarnPond to confirm. I don’t usually mind alterations, but I do have to make sure that the elements of the pattern I need tested are being tested.
  • I would like to have feedback posted the chat once every two weeks, minimum, please. That feedback does not have to be elaborate, it can even be ‘I haven’t touched this since last time’.
  • Finished Projects should include a photograph, preferably modeled (if applicable) and in good lighting  I may ask for your photograph to be featured on the Ravelry pattern page if I like it, but that is not a requirement of my testers.
  • Testers should fill out the feedback questions when they have completed their project.
  • You may create a project page on Ravelry at any time you wish. Once the pattern page goes live (I will post to the testing thread to indicate that), please link to the pattern.
