Description | TEST CALL REMAINS OPEN FOR SIZES 6–10 A seamless vest in chunky/bulky weight yarn worked top-down. It begins with cast-on stitches at the back neck, followed by shoulder shaping. The garment is knit flat until the underarm. Stitches are then picked up along the shoulders to knit the front, creating the appearance of a tailored shoulder seam. Once the front is knit to the underarm, both sides are joined to knit in the round. The colorwork employs slipped stitches and requires only one color of yarn per round. The vest is finished with a split hem of twisted rib. Garter selvage edges make finishing easier where trim is added to the neck and armholes. I named Rosalind Vest after the heroine of Shakespeare’s As You Like It. The vest design reflects characteristics of Rosalind as I imagine them in wool and stitches: smart, sharp, and interesting. It features Thorn Stitch, a slip stitch pattern that is a personal favorite. Thorns are often used as symbols in literature and art. They represent the complexity of life and overcoming adversity. Testers are asked to communicate questions or issues in a timely fashion, complete the test on time, and ideally create a Ravelry project page to help others in the knitting community by sharing good photos of their finished objects. Bonus if testers are willing to share photos on a variety of body types -- either on people or dress forms -- through Ravelry and/or other channels such as social media. A respectful tester community that offers honest feedback and treats each other kindly is important to me. |
